Courtney-

As some of you may know, we’re welcoming a new baby very soon! And so that means our hands will be more full soon enough. I loooooove the newborn stage and so I like to prepare some meals and snacks beforehand so that I don’t need to spend those first days in the kitchen and I can rather spend them snuggling my new baby. I mentioned in another post that making freezer meals and snacks is one way that I prepare for a new baby in our home, but I’ve also made freezer meals in other seasons of my life as well. It does feel very nice to be able to open my freezer and pull out a meal that only needs to be reheated—even if we don’t have a newborn at home. So these are not just for those awaiting a new baby! Stock your freezer when you’re feeling motivated one day or when meat goes on sale at the store! This can also be something you can do for another mom who just had a baby or someone who is sick! Bringing them a meal that can easily be frozen or is already frozen and can be stored in their freezer until they need it is a great way to bless others. Doesn’t have to be a meal either! Homemade baking or any sort of treat can be a great pick-me-up for your family or for someone else!

Something I like to do when storing meals in my freezer is to put them in disposable containers. I buy them at Dollarama but you can find them at most, if not all, grocery stores. By doing this, it takes away one more step—washing that casserole dish! Also, if you’re going to gift a meal to someone, then they don’t have to worry about returning dishes to you!

Here are some ideas for you to try if you need some inspiration! I’ve linked previous blog posts for the recipes that are our own, and linked from Pinterest for the others!

Meals

  • Pre-made Pizzas– I prepare the pizzas exactly as I would normally and then freeze before baking them. Thaw and then bake at 425 degrees F for 20min.

  • Pizza Rolls- I use the above recipe for the dough. Then roll it out, add sauce, pepperoni, and cheese. Roll it up, cut it out, let is rise again, and then bake! Freeze after baking. Let them thaw on the counter or microwave before eating.

  • Enchiladas -I would follow the recipe and then freeze before baking. Thaw and bake when you’re ready to eat them.

  • Baked Oatmeal– You’ve got to add chocolate chips on top! Freeze after baking.

Snacks

  • Ham & Egg Bites– warm them up in the microwave before eating! Or eat them cold (just maybe not frozen…)

  • Banana chocolate chips muffin– great for snacks at home or on the go, or for breakfast.

  • Protein Balls– we LOVE these. They’re actually really good to eat frozen too!

  • Cookies- check out the cookie recipes on our blog!
