Yolky Coffee

I was introduced to Yolky Coffee by Kim B, and after my first sip of that frothy, delicious cup, I was hooked. The raw egg yolk is rich in nutrients, and when it’s whipped into a creamy foam and added to your coffee, it makes you feel good about what you’re drinking.

So what makes a Yolky Coffee so nourishing? I asked chat and this is what she said…

1. Protein Boost

• The egg yolk adds a source of high-quality protein, which is essential for muscle repair, immune function, and overall cellular health. Eggs also contain vital nutrients like vitamins A, D, E, and B12.

2. Rich in Nutrients

• The egg yolk contains essential fatty acids, particularly omega-3s, which are beneficial for heart health and brain function. Additionally, it provides choline, which is important for liver health and cognitive function.

3. Caffeine Benefits

• The coffee base provides caffeine, which can help with mental alertness, focus, and boosting energy levels. Caffeine also has antioxidant properties and may help with fat burning in moderation.

4. Rich in Antioxidants

• Coffee itself is packed with antioxidants, which help combat oxidative stress and inflammation in the body. These antioxidants, like chlorogenic acids, can help protect your cells from damage.

5. Mood Enhancement

• Egg yolks can help improve mood. They contain tryptophan, an amino acid that may help increase serotonin levels in the brain.

This drink is quick and simple. All you need is freshly brewed coffee, cream, sweetener of choice, egg yolk, and I like to add in a scoop of collagen for some added protein. I don’t have a frother so I use my whisk attachment for my

handheld kitchen aid mixer, it works well!

I use Organika collagen and love it. It dissolves beautifully and has no taste. All of the measurements for this drink really depend on what you prefer. Do you like a sweet drink like me? I used about 1.5 tsp of sugar, depending on the size of your mug, this would be for a smaller mug. I use one scoop of collagen and allow it to dissolve in the hot cup of coffee as I whisk the egg yolk with the sugar. Whisk the yolk and sugar until it becomes light in color, then slowly add a small splash of coffee while continuing to whisk. Then I add the desired amount of cream to my cup of coffee, I love my cream, and top it off with the yolk mixture. Now, take your frothy cup of nourishment, place yourself in front of a window (assuming it’s still winter) and sip away as you enjoy your view and relax.
